Rhythm Section Skills

Without a solid rhythm section, no ensemble can function and create fine music.  At the core of this is the relationship between the drummer and bass player. Time, dynamics, creativity and musical awareness are just some of the things required of a drummer that can be greatly improved upon whilst accompanying a bass player in a Rhythm Section Skills lesson.

Rhythm section skills lessons are available and recommended to all drummers at Estuary

Live Performance Workshops

Playing an instrument and performing with other musicians are two separate skill sets. To use an analogy, you can learn to operate a car in a car park to a good standard but this will not fully prepare you for driving on public roads where there are rules, a framework, and other drivers to interact with. Music performance is no different. Estuary Drum Tuition will teach pupils how to operate the drums but will keep a focus on how to use these skills as competent, confident musicians and how to interact with other musicians within the ‘framework’ of the style of music they are studying.

One main feature of this approach to teaching at Estuary drum school is the availability of Live Performance Workshops where pupils will have the opportunity to learn a song/piece of music during a portion of their lesson times over a term ending with the chance to perform the piece with professional musicians. This can also be filmed (with permission) free of charge.
